About me

“Retraining as a Body worker with Remedial Massage has been like peeling away yet another layer of discovery”says Jo. Jo utilises her Yoga body/mind awareness skills throughout the massage treatment in her practice at Warriewood. These skills allow her to deeply relax the person on the table by leading the client through a deep relaxation verbally (through words and breathing practices) whilst working on the body. I have undertaken studies in trauma and Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

Jo is registered with ATMS (Australian Traditional Medicine Society Association) and insured fully covered with Hicaps at her Warriewood studio. In 2023 I completed 135hr training to be a Lymphoedema Practioner; specialising in Complex Physical Therapy. I am passionate about helping patients who have Lymphoedema, Lipoedema, Venous disease and are recovering from cancer. I am not only trained in Manual Lymphatic drainage but also in the use of Low Level Laser (LLL), Intermittent Sequential Compression Pumps (ISCP), Multi-layer lymphoedema bandaging, compression garment measuring, and prescription. I also educate patients on self-care so that they are empowered to cost effectively manage their condition and live with excellent quality of life.

I am trained to give Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Visceral manipulation of the abdomen. Both of which have a huge impact not only on our physical bodies, but our mental and emotional bodies.

Whether you are interested in healing from an injury and in need of a Massage, developing a private Yoga practice, or discovering and/or deepening your yoga/mindfulness practice, a private session can help regenerate and reawaken your intention. Jo can teach to a wide variety of students from chair bound, elderly, athletic, child and teen, corporate, bed bound (recovering from trauma and surgery), orchestras, schools and everything in between. Having taught Yoga in high schools for more than 15 years to both students and teachers she enjoys the questions an open mind can bring to Yoga and meditation. Jo is particularly gifted at listening, at following your movements, and at offering simple suggestions to provide ease for your body and respite for your mind. Her intuition and eye for subtlety make it easy for her to offer accessible refinements in movement and being.

Originally undertaking health roles in training in general nursing she quickly found the old but true adage “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” thus started her journey in allied health fields. She started in organics and wholefoods; cooking and learning about food combining and with some of the early pioneers such as Marcea Klein (nee Weber). Studying Massage back in 80s in a very young Nature Care College. About the same time finding her interest Yoga. Along the way pursuing other passions into careers/degrees in sound/music, film and library’s.

Jo dived deeply into Yoga during the 90s undertaking her first training in Hatha Yoga and started teaching in 1999 at Gladesville Satyananda School. She undertook studies Dru Yoga for four years after her last child and ran the successful Killarney Heights Yoga School for 15 years.

Her love of the body mind connection has been enhanced by being a founding member of the Bluegum Sangha, studying and practising Insight Meditation with Subhana Barzaghi & Winton Higgins over many years. also regular attendance to the “Mind and its Potential” & “ Happiness and its Causes” Conferences for over twelve years.

She continues to learn, not because of continuing education requirements, but because she has a genuine life long love of keep learning more and the desire to insure the best possible outcomes for her clients.
